Pernee connects directly to where your firm already stores tax documents. You do not need to upload files manually one by one.

1. Connecting Microsoft 365 / SharePoint

If your firm uses Microsoft 365 for document management and email:
  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Under Microsoft 365, click Connect.
  3. A Microsoft OAuth dialog will prompt your Microsoft 365 Global Administrator or designated user to authenticate.
  4. Select the specific SharePoint Document Libraries or OneDrive folders housing your client folders.
  5. Grant read-only permissions (Files.Read.All). Pernee never requests permissions to delete or overwrite your firm’s source files.

2. Connecting Google Workspace / Google Drive

If your firm uses Google Drive:
  1. In Settings → Integrations, find Google Drive and click Connect.
  2. Sign in with your firm’s Google Workspace administrator account.
  3. Select the Shared Drives containing client tax packages and trial balance sheets.

3. Initial Sync & Ingestion

Once authorized, Pernee initiates an asynchronous discovery pass:
  • Document metadata is cataloged first so client records populate immediately.
  • Background workers begin chunking and generating embeddings for PDFs, spreadsheets, and tax slips.
  • For libraries exceeding 50,000 documents, ingestion operates asynchronously in the background without locking your interface. Read more in our Integrations & Bulk Ingestion guide.
