# Team access & roles

> Inviting partners, managers, preparers, and seasonal contractors with role-specific access permissions.

Pernee allows firms to assemble tax engagement teams while maintaining strict client boundaries and audit controls.

***

## 1. Inviting Team Members

1. Navigate to **Settings → Team**.
2. Click **Invite Member**.
3. Enter your team member's corporate email address and assign an initial role:
   * **Partner**: Full administrative control, billing oversight, and final return sign-off authority.
   * **Manager / Reviewer**: Ability to review workpapers, clear preparer tickmarks, and leave review comments.
   * **Preparer**: Ability to ingest client documents, run AI research chats, and generate draft schedules.
   * **Contractor**: Scoped exclusively to assigned client entities without firm-wide visibility.

***

## 2. Shared Join Links vs. Direct Email Invites

* **Direct Email**: Sends a time-limited, cryptographically signed invitation link directly to the recipient's inbox.
* **Join Links**: Firm administrators can generate role-specific join links for rapid seasonal onboarding. Join links are hashed with SHA-256 and can be deactivated at any time with a single click.

## 3. Enforcing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

To safeguard confidential client tax information, we recommend enabling **Enforce MFA for All Teammates** under **Settings → Security**. Teammates will be required to configure TOTP-based two-factor authentication upon their next sign-in.
