# Set up your firm

> Firm profile, jurisdictions, tax season targeting, and firm-wide review defaults.

Getting your firm onboarded on Pernee takes less than five minutes. This guide walks you through establishing your firm's workspace and review defaults.

***

## 1. Create Your Firm Account

When creating your account, use your official firm email address (`name@firm.com`).

1. Visit [app.pernee.com/signup](https://app.pernee.com/signup).
2. Enter your work email, full name, and secure password.
3. Name your firm workspace. This name identifies your firm in audit logs and client deliverables.

***

## 2. Configure Tax Season & Filing Defaults

Once your workspace is created, navigate to **Settings → Defaults**:

* **Active Tax Year**: Set the primary tax year your firm is actively preparing (e.g., TY2025). The client table will automatically filter to this season.
* **Filing Jurisdictions**: Select the federal and state jurisdictions your firm commonly files (e.g., IRS Federal, California FTB, New York DTF, Texas Comptroller).
* **Target Deadline Offsets**: Set an internal target completion margin (for example, target completion 10 business days before the statutory filing deadline) to ensure buffer time for partner sign-off.

## 3. Next Steps

With your firm profile initialized, proceed to:

1. [Connect your cloud systems](/help/getting-started/connect-systems) (SharePoint, OneDrive, or Google Drive).
2. [Invite your team](/help/getting-started/team-access) (assigning preparer, reviewer, and partner roles).
