# Clients

> Your whole book, one season at a time — every filing's status, readiness, team and deadlines in one table.

The Clients page is your book for a season. Every row is one **filing** — one
entity, one tax year, one form — so an entity with a federal 1065 and a
California 565 has two rows, each with its own status, dates and readiness.

Pick the season with the year selector at the top. Everything below it is that
year, which is why there is no tax-year column repeating the same number down
the page.

## The columns

| Column | What it tells you |
| - | - |
| Client / entity | The legal entity. Click through to its record. |
| Role | Where the entity sits inside its group — master fund, blocker, trust, operating co. |
| Entity type | What the entity is, and the qualifier your firm uses for it. |
| Form | The return this filing is. State forms show their jurisdiction. |
| Team | Preparer, reviewer and partner. |
| Readiness | How close the return is to being ready to transmit. |
| Status | Where the work is right now. |
| Due date | The date your firm is working to. Yours to move. |
| Filing date | The statutory deadline for that form and year, extension included. |

**Federal only / All filings** decides whether state and local returns appear.
Federal only is the default, so a book with multi-state exposure stays
readable.

## Statuses

Eight, in the order work happens:

Not started · Waiting on client · In prep · Pre-review ready · In review ·
Review flagged · Filed · Delivered

An **EXT** marker beside the filing date means an extension has been filed. It
is a marker rather than a status on purpose: a return can be extended and still
be in prep, and the status column should always tell you where the work is.

## Readiness

One number, 0–100, where **100 means ready to transmit** — everything your firm
owes is done and the client has signed.

It is built from the whole engagement cycle, not just prep. Hover the bar to see
all ten stages, each with its own progress:

1. Client contact / rollover
2. Engagement letter signed
3. Document request sent
4. Documents received
5. Prep — workpapers and return
6. Diagnostics clear / self-review
7. Reviewer review
8. Review comments cleared
9. Partner signoff
10. Delivered + authorization signed

Documents received is proportional and reads its own numerator — "8 of 14
documents" — so you can see exactly what the number is made of. Stages carry
different weight, and the weights differ by return: document collection is a
larger share of a trust's score than of an individual's, because that is where
the time actually goes.

### When the bar turns red

Four things block a filing and stop its score climbing:

* a required document that has not arrived
* an open question sent to the client
* an unresolved review comment
* a due date that has passed on an unfiled return

A blocked filing is red whatever its score. A return sitting at 78% with three
missing K-1s is not nearly done, and it should not look like it.

## Editing from the table

Anyone staffed on a client — its preparer, reviewer or partner — can change
that client's status, team, due date and extension flag without leaving the
list. Status changes on the row itself; the rest opens from the row's menu.

Staffing is more than a label: who is on a client is what decides who at the
firm can see it.
